On
Tuesday, August 19, Tropical Storm Fay moved into Brevard County.
Originally the storm was projected to move through with high winds and rain and
move through rather quickly. Unfortunately, it stalled over us and dumped
almost 2 feet of rain in our area. As of right now (Wednesday evening) it
is still raining and the water in the front and back of our house is still
rising. Our neighborhood continues to flood.
Our
first Christmas in Florida turned out to be a very hectic one. On
Christmas eve we had dinner and exchanged gifts with Ryan's Grammy and Pappy and
Mommaw. We went to bed before too late because we were planning on
surprising our family back in PA by flying home for a visit on Christmas day.
On Christmas morning we got up and Ryan opened his gifts from Santa. Then
we all loaded into the car and set off for the Orlando airport. We flew
in to Baltimore, MD, rented a car and drove to Lancaster to surprise everyone.
First we stopped at Heather's grandmother's house and surprised her side of the family.
Then we went to my parent's house. We called them on my cell phone from
outside their house and then walked in the door while talking on the phone.
They were VERY surprised.
On
December 4, 2007, Heather, Ryan and I went to a Christmas tree farm in Eustis,
Florida to pick out our tree. We stopped at the post office in Christmas,
Florida on our way so that we could get our cards postmarked with the Christmas,
FL postmark. When we go to Santa's Christmas Tree Forrest, we picked out a
tree. We also went for a hayride and made some smores on the campfire.
They also had a giant pile of hay for Ryan to play in.
In
November of 2007, Ryan's Grammy and Grampy came down from Pennsylvania for a
visit. They stayed with us for a few days. We went over to Orlando
and visited Universal's City Walk and Disney World. We went to a Christmas
party at Magic Kingdom and saw Christmas decorations and lights at Epcot and
Hollywood Studios. We visited the Brevard Zoo and saw manatees at a
wildlife refuge in Merritt Island. We also had Thanksgiving dinner out
back by the pool.
I
joined Heather & Ryan in Florida just in time to celebrate Halloween with Ryan.
We carved some pumpkins, ate some of my "ghoul"ash, decorated the house and went
trick-or-treating in our new neighborhood.
